SPECIAL CAMP REPORT

[20.03.2022   to   26.03.2022]

VILANGADUPAKKAM VILLAGE

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 1: 20.03.2022

v  At 9 am, all the Volunteers of the National Service Scheme gathered at Sree Muthukumaraswamy College and left for Vilankadupakkam village by bus under the guidance of the Principal of the College, Capt. Dr. Arulmozhiselvan Sir and the National Service Scheme Programme Officer, Mr. Karthikeyan Sir.

v  We reached Vilankadupakkam village at 9.30 am. There the volunteers of the National Service Scheme were given a place to stay for 7 days in a community hall in the village of Vilankadupakkam.

v  All the volunteers were ready to serve the village of Vilankadupakkam.

v  The inauguration ceremony of the National Service Scheme Special Camp of Vilankadupakkam village was held at 10.30 am.

v  The first part of the program was a salutation - Tamizhthai Vazhthu.

v  Mr. J.Karthikeyan, NSS Programme Officer and Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Sree Muthukumaraswamy College delivered the Welcome Address.

v  Next, they light candles and started the ceremony.

v  Capt. Dr. Arulmozhichelvan, The Principal of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College delivered the Presidential Address.

v  Madhavaram Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Arul Santosha Muthu sir came and delivered the chief guest address and made a special speech to the NSS Volunteers.

v  Former Panchayat President of Vilankadupakkam panchayat union Mr. Saravanan, Vilankadupakkam Panchayat President Mrs. Bharathi Saravanan, Panchayat Deputy President Kalavathi Nandakumar and all the ward members  came and delivered the special address and made demands like cleaning the village, planting trees, cleaning the temple premises and maintaining the roads.

v  Finally Mrs. Nithyapriya, RRC Programme Officer, Sree Muthukumaraswamy College delivered the Vote of Thanks.

v  Also, 1 Head of the Department and 22 Assistant professors of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College came and encouraging the NSS Volunteers.

v  After lunch, Mr. J. Karthikeyan, NSS Programme Officer, briefed the volunteers on what we are going to do for seven days at the NSS Special Camp in Vilankadupakkam village to create awareness programs.

v  He also divided the Fifty NSS Volunteers who arrived into seven groups of NSS Volunteers boys into five groups and  NSS Volunteers girls into two groups.

v  He gave each group a color name as a group name.

v  The group is divided into green, red, yellow, pink, blue, gold, and orange.

v  He put the schedule in rotation so that all seven groups could do the day-to-day activities.

v  Next the NSS Volunteers all split up into groups and cleared the rubbish around the campus where they were allowed to stay. Cut small unwanted shrubs.

v  At 3 o'clock in the evening we went to the Mettutheru of Vilankadupakkam and held an awareness rally on plastic eradication.

v  That day's service is over successfully.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 2: 21.03.2022

v  Yoga was held from 5.30 am to 7.30 pm.

v  The day started with thamizhthai vazhthu at 8.50am.

v  At 9 in the morning we were engaged in cleaning the campus of Vilankadupakkam Government Adi Dhiravidar Welfare Middle School.

v  After cleaning the school premises, we planted saplings with the students of the school to keep the area green.

v  After that, the NSS Volunteers conducted sports competitions and awareness programs for the school students.

v  Awareness programs on the importance of trees such as tree planting and how to protect the tree were conducted by the NSS Volunteers for the students of the Government Adi Dhiravidar Welfare Middle School.

v  They then cleared the streets of Vilankadupakkam village and the rubbish in its vicinity.

v  After the lunch break Mr. Arul Raj came to deliver the topic on Roles and Responsibilities of NSS Volunteers and told the volunteers about the National Service Scheme and how volunteers should be in Society.

v  Then the fieldwork took place.

v  At 3 pm, all the volunteers cleaned the areas such as the Vilankadupakkam Library building and the Grama Panchayat Service Center building.

v  Two professors from Sree MuthukumaraSwamy College came to encourage the volunteers of the National Service Scheme  Special Camp.

v  At the end of the day the NSS Volunteers were reminded of all the work and events that took place that day and planned the work for the next day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 3: 22.03.2022

v  Zumba Dance was held from 5.30 am to 7.30 pm.

v  At 9 am, all the volunteers of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College's National Service Scheme shared their field work ideas with other students.

v  Then at 10.30 am Dinesh, Founder and Director, Ladder Trust, came and deliver the awareness on Child Rights, Child Protection, Child Labour, Child Abuse, and ChildLine Awareness to the NSS Volunteers.

v  Next, the former president of Vilankadupakkam Grama Panchayat union Mr. Saravanan enjoyed their visit and congratulated the volunteers.

v  After that the volunteers did field work like cleaning the Sri Gangayamman temple and streets.

v  At 5 pm all the NSS volunteers are split up into seven teams and they went to the street about the free eye camp to be held the next day and gave pamphlets to the people of Vilankadupakkam.

v  Two professors from Sree MuthukumaraSwamy College came to encourage the volunteers of the National Service Scheme Special Camp.

v  At the end of the day the NSS Volunteers were reminded of all the work and events that took place that day and planned the work for the next day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 4: 23.03.2022

v  Physical Exercise was held from 5.30 am to 7.30 pm.

v  The free eye camp was specially conducted by M.N. Eye Hospital, one Ophthalmologist Doctor and four Ophthalmologists of the Eye Hospital at the National Service Scheme Special Camp from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.

v  More than 150 members of the public came and had their eyes examined for free. And the surgery was successfully performed free of charge for 7 aged people with severe eye problems.

v  Next, the former president of Vilankadupakkam Grama Panchayat union Mr. Saravanan enjoyed their visit and congratulated the volunteers.

v  At 5 pm we went to the Vilankadupakkam areas and held an awareness rally on child labor, child protection and child sexual abuse.

v  There was also a street play on child labor, child protection and child sexual abuse done by NSS Volunteers.

v  Two professors from Sree MuthukumaraSwamy College came to encourage the volunteers of the National Service Scheme Special Camp.

v  At the end of the day the NSS Volunteers were reminded of all the work and events that took place that day and planned the work for the next day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 5: 24.03.2022

v  Boxing Training was held from 5.30 am to 7.30 pm.

v  At 9 am, all the volunteers of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College's National Service Scheme shared their field work ideas with other students.

v  After that at 9.30 am all the NSS Volunteers of Sree Muthukumaraswami College went to Vilangadupakkam Shivan Temple and engaged in the task of cleaning the temple premises.

v  Then at 11.30 am psychiatrist Mrs.Deepika from Adyar CANCER institute came to Sree Muthukumaraswamy College's National Service Scheme Special Camp and delivered a speech on cancer awareness program.

v  Afterwards at 12.30 pm Mrs.Mythili from Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society to raise awareness about HIV & AIDS Awareness at Sree Muthukumaraswamy College's National Service Scheme Special Camp.

v  After lunch, 7 teams of National Service Scheme Volunteers removed and cleaned up debris from the Shiva Temple and its environments.

v  Next, the Volunteers of the National Service Scheme planted trees in the area.

v  That evening the mother of Pradeep Raj, a volunteer of the National Service Scheme, came and encouraged all the volunteers.

v  Two professors from Sree Muthukumaraswamy College came to encourage the volunteers of the National Service Scheme Special Camp.

v  At the end of the day the NSS Volunteers were reminded of all the work and events that took place that day and planned the work for the next day.

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 6: 25.03.2022

v  Yoga and Physical Exercise was held from 5.30 am to 7.30 pm.

v  At 9 am, the Volunteers of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College's National Service Scheme went from house to house in the streets of Vilankadupakkam village, giving a sapling to the house as part of a tree planting program and explaining the benefits of the tree.

v  After that at 10.30 am the Resource Person Mr.T. Bhaskar delivered the  topic on Goal Settings and Positive Thinking and guide the volunteers on how the goals and objectives should be.

v  Then the fieldwork took place.

v  Then at 2 pm the students of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College's National Service Scheme cleaned up the rubbish around the Vilankadupakkam Community Hall.

v  Afterwards, art shows, Mimes, Dance, Singing and sports competitions were held for the volunteers of the National Service Scheme. Everyone took part in it and showed their uniqueness.

v  Two professors from Sree Muthukumaraswamy College came to encourage the volunteers of the National Service Scheme Special Camp.

v  At the end of the day the NSS Volunteers were reminded of all the work and events that took place that day and planned the work for the next day.

v  That day night (Fire camp) the fire was extinguished and groups of students sat around it and sang and enjoyed themselves.

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 7: 26.03.2022

v  The yoga training was held at 9 a.m. under the guidance of Dr.Bharathy Physical Education Director of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College.

v  After completing the National Service Scheme Special Camp of Vilankadupakkam village, the volunteers took all their belongings and clothes ready to return home.

v  After that, the closing ceremony of the National Service Scheme Special Camp of Sree Muthukumaraswami College was held successfully for seven days in Vilankadupakkam village.

v  The first part of the program was a salutation - Tamizhthai Vazhthu.

v  Dr.V.Selvanathan, Dean, Sree Muthukumaraswamy College delivered the Welcome Address.

v  Capt. Dr. Arulmozhichelvan, The Principal of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College delivered the Presidential Address.

v  The Chairman of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College, Mr. Vivekanandan, Secretary Mrs. Arulmozhi and See Muthukumaraswamy Educational Society members came and delivered Chief Guest Addresses.

v  Former Panchayat President of Vilankadupakkam panchayat union Mr. Saravanan, Vilankadupakkam Panchayat President Mrs. Bharathi Saravanan, Panchayat Deputy President Kalavathi Nandakumar and all the ward members  came and delivered the special addresses.

v  Volunteer Pradeep elaborated on the events of the 7 days of the National Service Scheme Special Camp Report.

v  Prizes and Medals given to all the 50 NSS Volunteers by the college dignitaries.

v  Also all the heads of the department and assistant professors of Sree Muthukumaraswamy College came and attended the closing ceremony.

v  Finally Mr. Karthikeyan, NSS Programme Officer, Sree Muthukumaraswamy College delivered the Vote of Thanks.

v  Vilankadupakkam Village National Service Scheme Special Camp successfully completed.
